Mother’s Day

It’s important to give mothers an appreciative day of acknowledgement. They work very hard and take a lot of grief without a lot of appreciation day to day. While a lot consider this a Hallmark holiday, I think it’s good to give props to an entire community of women who work hard and rarely get to clock out.

My mother died in December 2001. It’s hard to think it was so long ago. But I have many fond memories. We used to take road trips during the summer to see our family in Kansas and Missouri. We would blast awesome 80s songs, two of my favorites being, Girls with Guns by Tommy Shaw and Punk Rock Girl the Dead Milkmen and sing loud. We laughed all the time about ridiculous stuff.

I remember when we went to see Jurassic Park in the theater together and the lights went out before they started up the movie. My mom let out a shriek and then said, “I just thought we could all use that.”

What are some of your favorite moments with your mom? What did you laugh about together?
